We always say that we would be nothing without our staff, and feel strongly that the Salon Institute team is the best in the business!  In our “Meet & Greet” blog series, get to know the people that make Salon Institute amazing!

Please take a minute to meet Kristin Rummell, Salon Institute’s resident marketing diva and creative vision caster. A former newspaper editor, Kristin is desperately addicted to all things involving words — writing them or reading them.

When did you start working with Salon Institute?
September 2008 — When we still were in the build-out phase of the Toledo Campus! I gave my first campus tours before we even had shampoo bowls installed … it was to fun cast vision for what the space would become!

What is your favorite part of coming to work every day?
I love that my job is creative and there is something different happening each day. Plus I have an amazing team!

Describe your job in 3 words.
Nonstop, High-energy, Relational

What did you do before you worked at Salon Institute?
I was a newspaper reporter, page designer and editor.

What have you learned about yourself while in this position?
I have learned that I am both weaker and stronger than I ever imagined. This job is TOUGH (mainly because I am a people pleaser) but I adore it!

Tell us about your family. Are you married? Have kids? Have furbabies? How old are they? How long have you been with your significant other? Tell me, tell me!
I am married to another creative soul, my hubby Craig, who works in marketing as a graphic and web designer. He is the visual guy and I’m the words gal! We have a super silly toddler daughter named Emmy and a 6-year-old dachshund-chihuahua named Earnie (he was the baby first). We are incredibly dorky and goofy and we like it that way.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
A choreographer for So You Think You Can Dance or Dancing With the Stars

What makes your heart sing?
My family, a good book, white wine, and ballroom dancing

What is at the top of your bucket list?
More stamps in my passport! Especially from Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Germany and Argentina.

Name 3 foods that always in your fridge.
Coffee creamer, Brie cheese, and tomatoes

What is your favorite thing about yourself?
I am spunky and tenacious to a fault — there is a positive way to look at everything and generally a solution to any problem!

What do you want people to know about you?
I also am a professional competitive ballroom dancer and dance instructor; I am not short, I am space efficient; and I get through every day on a mixture of heavy prayer, strong coffee, and good music.

Words to live by …. go!
Never be lacking in zeal.
