Hairdressers posses a great opportunity and an even greater responsibility in crafting the lines of social convention through their artistry. It all comes down to the beauty of interpretation, says one industry icon known for glamorous editorial work.
“To me, hairdressing is to fashion what dancing is to music,” said Luis Alvarez, co-founder of Aquage.
The nationally and internationally-renown stylist encouraged Salon Institute students to begin seeing the world around them through their own artistic filter. During a recent half-day seminar at the institute, Alvarez shared tips in styling and finishing, ways to create enhancements with hair, and gave demonstrations as his shared life lessons from his more than 20 years in the fashion and beauty industry.
With a distinction as one of Modern Salon Magazine’s 50 Most Influential Hairdressers, Alvarez encouraged and inspired Salon Institute students and staff alike with his passion and creative vision.
One educator called his positive attitude contagious, and students described him as engaging and exciting. His class was a fabulous kick off to introducing Aquage products to the Salon Institute!
