What specifically does your program include? Aside from hairstyling, are there other areas of focus available?

We offer a program that includes 1,800 clock hours toward achieving an Advanced Cosmetology license. An advanced cosmetology license is a large umbrella license that allows you to practice all forms of cosmetology in Ohio. We focus on teaching not just amazing technical skills, but training you to be an entrepreneur. A successful beauty consultant is more than just artistic; they are business-savvy as well!

Our 1,800 clock hour program covers all elements of cosmetology, as well as a 300 clock hour business portion that focuses on salon management and additional advanced techniques. Our full Advanced Cosmetology Program includes hair cutting, coloring and styling; skin care, facials, waxing, regular make up and a 6-week airbrush make up class (each student receives a Temptu Pro airbrush make up compressor in his or her kit of tools); nail tech courses (manicures, pedicures, nail art, gel lacquer and acrylics); and the business program I mentioned before. This program is designed to be completed in 13.5 months (54 weeks).

We train our students in TIGI cutting and coloring techniques. We use TIGI makeup and Temptu Pro airbrush make up and BioElements for our skincare curriculum. Our graduates go on to work as salon owners, stylists, make-up artists, educators and nail techs.

Do you want to focus on one aspect of cosmetology?

Salon Institute graduates have developed careers where they specialize in one segment of the beauty industry, including:

  • nail technician
  • skin care and waxing
  • freelance make up artist
  • bridal hair and make up stylist
  • traveling as a salon educator for a product company

It’s awesome to find a niche specialty where you can show off your best skills. Salon Institute’s Advanced Cosmetology Program gives students a well-rounded education so that you can confidently choose if and how you want to specialize … and then have the option to change direction or specialty later.

cosmetologist on workDo you offer part-time classes?

Students are schedule to be in class from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and alternating Fridays and Saturdays. This schedule allows students to graduate from the Advanced Cosmetology Program in 54 weeks — less than 14 months.

This schedule allows students to complete their program quicker than a part-time schedule and begin their career in the industry. Ending class at 4 p.m. works with students who work second-shift jobs, or have families.

How long will it take me to graduate?

Students are scheduled to complete their 1,800 clock hour Advanced Cosmetology Program in 54 weeks, just slightly longer than a year. Our students are highly motivated and passionate about starting an exciting career as quickly as possible. Our goal is to provide them with a challenging, intensive cosmetology program that will prepare and inspire them to become skilled beauty experts.
